02 Apr Meet the Team at Towne Fitness
Rachel Murray joined the team at Towne Fitness in January of 2019 as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. This partnership developed while running the very successful “Nutritional Wellness Series” which was a series of complimentary wellness talks held bi-weekly from July – December of 2018.
Her passion for health and wellness was established while earning her Bachelor of Science specializing in Health Promotion at Laurentian University. After this she went on to complete a college practical nursing diploma and then a bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; she has over 8 years combined experience as a nurse. During this time, she consistently enrolled in continuing education courses, and educated herself regarding health, wellness and nutrition.
Rachel struggled with allergies & digestive issues for many years and, after conventional treatments only masked symptoms, and did not address the root cause of the problem, she was determined to find a natural solution. It was these struggles and experiences that initiated her discovery and pursuit of a holistic nutrition career, which she has found better serves her passion for educating and helping people live their best life. Rachel was a vegetarian from age 11 – 32, however, in pursuit of optimizing her own unique health circumstances, she re-introduced meat into her diet in 2018.
Rachel takes the whole person into account when she completes her assessments and is therefore able to create an individualized wellness plan to meet her clients where they are at, and she is committed to their success.
Rachel has a passion for digestive health & has also taken advanced training in Nutrition & Athletic Performance. She is well informed regarding a variety of different diets & lifestyles including paleo, primal, low-carb, ketogenic, intermittent fasting, vegetarian, & vegan.
While her passion is supporting those with digestive concerns, Rachel can create a plan to address a variety of related issues including weight loss, allergies, food sensitivities or support for athletic performance.
A few things you may not know about Rachel is that she rides a motorcycle, has been hot air ballooning and went canyoning (rappelling, jumping and sliding down waterfalls) in icy waters in Switzerland on her honeymoon.
Rachel is a graduate of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, a member of the CSNN Alumni Association, the Canadian Association of Holistic Nutrition Professionals & the Canadian Association of Natural Nutrition Practitioners.
