JONATHON’S JOURNEY

JONATHON’S JOURNEY

Jonathon joined Towne Fitness in 2022 and right from the start, it was obvious there was a great story behind his dedication and eagerness to learn. Of course, we had to ask! And these are his answers:

Q. WHEN DID YOU BEGIN?

A. I began working out during June of 2020 when I was stuck at home during the first round of covid lockdowns.

Q. WHAT PROMPTED YOU?

A. My father had passed from heart related illness in May 2020. I began to see a lot of similarities between the way he and I lived our lives and unhealthy choices I was making. So, I decided to try and do better for myself.

Q. WHAT DID YOUR ROUTINE LOOK LIKE WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED YOUR JOURNEY?

A. Started off with just a simple 20–25-minute stretch and light aerobic workout. Sometimes I would walk a couple km on the roads by my house.

Q. AND NOW …

A. It varies depending on how I feel. I have a weekly split of 4-5 days focusing on the major muscle groups. I usually spend between 2-3 hours per session. I also like to run on my off days, I’ve built up to being able to do 10km within a couple months.

Q. WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST CHANGES YOU MADE TO YOUR DAILY LIFE TO SUPPORT YOUR SUCCESS?

A. Routine and discipline. No one likes to get up early or go to the gym every day. I just built a routine that I’ve stuck to, and it’s helped me avoid getting bogged down and not working out on days where I might not feel motivated.

Q. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS?

A. Progress takes time. You’re going to have off days, slow days, bad days. If you keep trying, you’ll see results. And when you do it’s 100% worth what you put in to get there.

Q. FAVORITE FOOD?

A. Bananas!

Q. FAVORITE WORKOUT OR EXERCISE?

A. Squats

Q. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?

A. Currently my biggest goal is to get my running times down. I’d also like to be able to get up to running a half marathon in the next year.

Congratulations, on your success so far, Jonathon! Thank you for sharing your story. The loss of a parent is never easy. No doubt your father would be very proud of you.

We are excited for your continued success and of course, … let’s talk about that Half Marathon, 2023!
