FAILING TO PLAN, IS PLANNING TO FAIL!

FAILING TO PLAN, IS PLANNING TO FAIL!

Every day we are inundated with motivational and inspirational quotes. Some more profound than others as they resonate with our current state of mind. There is one however, that I truly believe in. One that I have used to help navigate my own personal journey. ‘Failing to plan, is planning to fail’. Benjamin Franklin has been credited with this line and Sir Winston Churchill revised and re-used it, too when he said, “those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it’.

I believe there are two types of people in this world. Those who fly by the seat of their pants and those who plan. Which one are you? If you are a seat of the pants type of person, how is that working for you? If you are a planner, do you set goals and crush them? Or are you an over planner? Have you changed over the years?

Ever walked into the gym without a workout to follow? Toed the line at a race without preparation or training? Sat an exam without studying? Not the best feeling. Occasionally, it may work in your favour however in most cases we know we could have achieved more, run faster or got a higher mark with a little planning.

Want results? Set a goal, devise a plan and get to work. Be realistic in your goal setting and don’t be afraid to revise your plan along the way. The purpose of my initial appointment with a personal training client or running enthusiast is always to find out what their short term and long term goal is. From there we build a plan to truly maximize potential. No matter how big or small the goal, a plan will more likely get you there. So grab a pen and paper and make it happen. Who knows what you are capable of achieving.
